Ian Huang

Ian Huang

Ian (Yan) joined Vapor Trails Toastmasters in May 2010 to improve his public speaking and oral presentation skills, which have become increasingly important as required by his professional career development. He is a certified PMP and leading a distributed IT development team to develop and maintain eCommerce Single Sign-On platform for a bank. He's found the table topic session is a challenging but most fun part of Toastmasters.

He used to work for a global investment bank in their global equities technology division in east coast. However, when he and his family made their first trip to San Diego in 2006, they were fascinated by San Diego's gorgeous weather and refulgent sunset, which eventually led them to relocate the family here. He likes to go hiking with his wife, son and daughter, and Torrey Pines state park is one of their favorite hiking destinations. He used to play badminton quite competitively before his left knee was injured and now enjoys tennis with his son (mostly by feeding balls to him:-)) as well as snow skiing in the winter.

Franzisk Poppe

Franziska Poppe

As a native of Germany and professional interpreter Franziska has always looked for new challenges to improve her English speaking skills. Joining the Vapor Trails Toastmasters Club in November 2010 just seemed to be the next logical step for her to sharpen her public speaking skills. She greatly enjoys the encouraging and fun environment at the Tierrasanta club and hopes to give captivating, well-structured and enlightening speeches in the near future.

Franziska's U.S. adventure began at the end of 2006 when she wrote her Master Thesis with a translation company in Seattle, WA. The professional environment at work and life at home with a very diverse and caring family soon helped her to advance her English communication skills and to feel at home on the other side of the Atlantic. When she moved to San Diego at the end of 2007 she decided to work for another localization company before continuing her pursuit of owning her own translation and interpreting business.

To acquire expertise in different fields Franziska volunteers at the International Relations Office of the WORLD TRADE CENTER San Diego and works as a Language Instructor for Language World USA.

In her free time she loves to read, travel, spend time with friends, ski, hike, and play tennis with her hubby.
